RPG Crunch

What services do we offer?

RPG Crunch is a startup company that wants to be a bridge between rpg publishers, gaming stores and gamers. The idea came to me that, while having a relatively large number of roleplayers, there are very few gaming stores and specialty stores in Flanders (our state in Federal Belgium) that service both publishers with a market and roleplayers with their fix. This has lead to players buying directly from the publishers of their chosen venue and them only playing the most popular and well known titles such as Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. Not a bad choice for new roleplayers, but there is so much more out there they don't get to see and consequently never try, play or indeed buy.

This is what we offer:

To Publishers:

A way to improve the quality of their products: through reviews (always in the most honest and neutral way, no bias), Proof reading (no one likes to spend money on books filled with grammatical or spelling errors), Play and system testing (Some games have beautiful settings, but are hampered by a stuttering or incomplete gaming system.) and of course demonstration sessions to spread the name and awareness of publishers and their products.

* Reviews of your RPG publications:

We can review your publications for you on our website. We try to keep our reviews honest and to the point.
RPG Crunch will post a review, written and/or video, on our website as soon as possible and at the latest 1 month after the agreement has been reached.

Note: It is entirely possible that one of your rpg publications will be reviewed without your request, depending whether or not we have access to the book and at our own convenience. This is entirely free of charge.

* Demonstration sessions:

We also give demo sessions of your games, to spread the name of your product in our own region. We always give these demo sessions in the same locations (see Demo's page for more information), which is a well known gaming community center in our region. For your convenience, part of these demo sessions can be recorded and published on this website as proof. Participants in these sessions will be notified they may be recorded on video.

Note: It is entirely possible that one of your games will be demonstrated without your request, depending whether or not we have access to the book and at our own convenience. This is entirely free of charge.

* Proof Reading:

Often enough, publications are published without proof reading to prevent everything from glaring grammatical mistakes to wrongly edited sentences. Let us help you with that. Available for English and Dutch.

* Play Testing /  System testing:

Gaming systems need to be tested, because they can make or break a game. A beautifully written and cohesive background is largely undone when the game system doesn't support the setting. We can test your system in one of several player groups where the average roleplay experience is 15+ to 20+ years. We can also playtest your game with interested players.

* Translations English - Dutch/Dutch - English:

Do you need your publication translated into Dutch or English, contact us. For a mere 0.1/word, we will translate your text.

* Spreading your name and brands:

By requesting reviews of your products and demo sessions, you will spread your name and brands to our audience, both foreign and domestic. This can lead to an increase in sales for your products.

* Cheap rates:

Due to the fact that we are a small business, we can offer our services exempt of TAV under Belgian law.

To Stores:

Players and indeed store owners are not always up to date with the latest games. This is where we try to make a difference by providing demonstration sessions to create awareness of new and older products and spreading word about new games. Nothing is better than mouth to mouth advertisement to get gamers to buy your product. Store owners can be made aware of a potential market for a new product by these sessions. They can also hire us to promote that new game they just ordered so their sales go up. My experience with Worlds' End Comics, our local gaming store proves this works. With a few demonstration sessions, the stock of their new game was almost completely gone in a few weeks.

* Demonstration sessions:

We also give demo sessions of your games, to spread the name of a product in our own region. We always give these demo sessions in the gaming stores, where they are most accessible to players.

To Roleplayers:
We offer players the opportunity to get to know a new game without first having to buy the product, both through our reviews and our demonstration sessions. We also offer them our time and effort as a GM for campaigns they would like to play and don't find a GM for.

* Demonstration sessions:

We also give demo sessions of various Roleplaying Games, old and new.
Some of these will be sponsored by the publisher of the game, some will be held because we like the game and want more people to share our enthousiasm. Both of these instances are free to join for those interested. Another option is for you and your group to request a demo session of a game we have access to and for a modest fee per person, we will happily provide. We give these demo sessions in World's End Comics & Games or a store near you (see Demo's page for more information). Private sessions are also possible.
Note: Please note that the minimum number of playing participants in a demo session is 3, with a maximum of 5 to 7, depending on the game. Registration is required to prevent groups that are too big. Payment ( 50.00.) occurs at the start of the event (if applicable).

* Campaigns:

When you just can't find a Game Master for your group, or you want to play that one game you don't have access to, let us help. From groups to 1 on 1 games, we can help you out. For only 10.00/Hr., we can run any game from our Campaign page you like for as long as you want. We usually play  in World's End Comics & Games or a store near you (see Demo's page for more information). Private sessions are also possible.

* Workshops:

We will organise regular workshops for new (or not so new) Game Masters, Storytellers, Keepers, Referee's, you get the gist, ... on how to handle certain problems, how to write a scenario, plan a campaign, etc. For a modest fee per person, we will guide you towards the next phase in your career as GM.
?
Note: The minimum number of participants in a workshop will be 4, with a maximum of 10. Workshops will be announced well before they occur. Registration is mandatory, reaching the required minimum number of participants will cause the workshop's date and time to be confirmed. Payment ( 10.00/ participant) occurs at the start of the event. All workshops will be given in World's End Comics & Games or a store near you (see Demo's page for more information).

* Cheap rates:

Due to the fact that we are a small business, we can offer our services exempt of TAV under Belgian law.

To other companies:

* Team building through Roleplaying.

Make your crew work together in a cooperative game, which only requires a bit of imagination, an adventurous spirit and your willingness to have some fun. Due to the concept of Roleplaying Games, groups are limited to 3-7 participants per session.

Demonstration sessions:

Demonstration sessions start off with an introduction of the Game Master and the players and their experience with roleplaying games. This is followed by a short overview of the setting, what kind of game it is, the genre, etc.... . After having chosen one of the pregenerated character sheets, we give a rundown of the gaming system.
Then the adventure starts. This is either a scenario provided by the publisher or custom made by RPG Crunch. The scenario's generally last  between 2 and 4 hours.
At the end of the demonstration session, we ask the participants what they think of the system and setting.

Workshops for Gamemasters:
Workshops for Game Masters started off as me giving some less experienced Game/Dungeon Masters some advice on solving a problem they were having with their games. This led to the idea of having workshops for small groups of beginning (or not so beginning) Game Masters, where we give general tips on how to handle situations, we look at their problems and try to solve them in a group effort (and explain why we would go for those solutions). There is also a number of excercises with fictional situations, where the participants are asked how they would handle the situation and explain why.
Running a game requires Game Masters to not only know the system and scenario, in and out.

Playtesting / System Testing:

Playtesting and System Testing are essential to the development of any game, no less so for roleplaying games. These are the alpha and beta stages of the development. We offer Play/System testing with some experienced players (all with more than 15 yrs of roleplaying and Gamemastering), so we can test all possible character combinations, find weak and strong points in the system and try and suggest fixes. We are aware that a lot of people are doing Playtests for free, after all why would one pay for playtesting when it can be had for free from the whole fan base? We just want to make sure, players get the best possible systems and games to spend their hard earned money on and spend hours upon hours of precious free time in exploration. We, at RPG Crunch, happily spend our time on crunching the system to give you, both the publisher and the potential buyers, the best games possible.
